Description

The origin of these timeless elegant sarees took place at one of the oldest cities of the human race; Varanasi, where the weaving units till date weave these silk saris meticulously by hand. The sarees are known to employ real gold and silver threads for weaving the embroidery and take about six months to a year for finishing. Most of the characteristic motifs and designs on a pure Banarasi silk saree are inspired from the Mughal period including detailed floral motifs, foliate motifs and a string of leaves on the border called ‘Jhallar’. A typical Banarasi sari has gold brocade or ‘Zari’ work, small motifs or designs, compact weaving, metallic appeal, heavy ‘Pallu’ and ‘Meenakari’ work.

Besides its luxurious softness, Silk has many other qualities that makes it the perfect all season fabric. Its unique temperature regulating characteristics gives Silk the unique ability to cool and warm simultaneously. Banarasi silks are embellished with diverse motifs and come in striking shades, making them extremely versatile and exemplary works of curated art. Silk garments are your perfect attire for religious celebrations, weddings or as an evening wear.

Silk and blended silk are very similar in strength, texture, and appearance. Blended silk is seen as a cheaper alternative that is more durable due to its mixed fabric. The blended fabric increases antimicrobial properties with UV protection. Blended silk sarees are a great alternative to enjoy the natural silk’s appearance and feel, but are stronger and durable.

Chanderi saris are produced from three kinds of fabric: pure silk, Chanderi cotton and silk cotton. It is possible to differentiate genuine Chanderi from the fake ones by their sheer glossy texture, shine and uneven texture. Traditional coin, floral art, peacocks and modern geometric designs are woven into different Chanderi patterns. A pure chanderi silk saree’s price depends on the zari used at the border and the motifs. The more the zari it features, the higher the cost of the saree gets.

As with any Banarasi product, this soft-silk saree is embellished with detailed floral motifs, foliate motifs and a string of leaves and has copper brocade or ‘Zari’ work, small motifs or designs, compact weaving and a metallic appeal.
