The process of ‘mercerising’ is a textile finishing treatment for cellulose fabric and yarn, mainly cotton and flax, which improves the dye uptake and tear strength, reduces fabric shrinkage, and imparts a silk-like lustre. Ideal for casual wear, the mercerised cotton fabrics are soft and radiant and is one of the best choices for wearing in humid climate.

Silk/cotton fabric is a blend of both fibers, silk and cotton, combining positive characteristics of each into a single textile. A lightweight, silky and comfortable weave, silk cotton fabric has a soft to touch feel and a sturdy, silken drape, along with a versatility that makes it suitable for an extended variety of garment uses.

As with any Banarasi product, this cotton-silk saree is embellished with detailed floral motifs, foliate motifs and a string of leaves and has gold brocade or ‘Zari’ work, small motifs or designs, compact weaving and a metallic appeal.
