The origin of these timeless elegant sarees took place at one of the oldest cities of the human race; Varanasi, where the weaving units till date weave these silk saris meticulously by hand. The sarees are known to employ real gold and silver threads for weaving the embroidery and take about six months to a year for finishing. Most of the characteristic motifs and designs on a pure Banarasi silk saree are inspired from the Mughal period including detailed floral motifs, foliate motifs and a string of leaves on the border called ‘Jhallar’. A typical Banarasi sari has gold brocade or ‘Zari’ work, small motifs or designs, compact weaving, metallic appeal, heavy ‘Pallu’ and ‘Meenakari’ work.
Silk and blended silk are very similar in strength, texture, and appearance. Blended silk is seen as a cheaper alternative that is more durable due to its mixed fabric. The blended fabric increases antimicrobial properties with UV protection. Blended silk sarees are a great alternative to enjoy the natural silk’s appearance and feel, but are stronger and durable.
Team this mehendi green design with a pair of heels in gold and matching jewellery for the perfect elegant look.
